now that the election is behind us, let's get back to the important stuff, like linguistics!
saw this great article today, and while it's not exactly grammar-related, it touches on more of my language pet peeves. i think this list is great- i'd of course add "literally" to their list, likely near the top, but can't argue with any of their choices.

"Irregardless" is quite annoying for me. as is the template:
"I'm not X'ing, but... (proceeds to X in some way)" where X is brag, complain, critique, etc.
I'll add one that some people agree with, some don't: "out-of-pocket"
If you spend cash and need to be reimbursed...well, that's out-of-pocket, or OOP for the accounting types.
BUT IT DOESN'T MEAN YOU'RE OUT OF THE OFFICE! Urgh. It makes me insane. How is a person out-of-pocket? However, here is an interesting take on that:
